What to Expect

Yard Sign

With your permission, we would like to place a sign in your yard. We take pride in our work and would like to let your neighbors know how to reach us.

Possible Damage

Items such as light fixtures, mirrors, pictures, and items placed on shelves should be removed. Vibration from the construction can cause these items to fall and break. We cannot assume responsibility for these items as a result of the roofing project.

Small cracks or crows feet will sometimes appear in older plaster and small particles of the acoustical ceiling may fall.

In most vaulted ceilings, the sheetrock is nailed directly to the the rafters. The vibration from construction activities may cause the texture to release from the nail heads. We will be happy to paint over the exposed nail heads with touch-up paint that you supply.

Tear Off

When it is necessary to remove your existing roof, dirt and debris will fall into the attic. As a precaution, you may want to cover or remove items stored in your attic.

Access

Please park your vehicles off of the driveway during construction. We will require access to your driveway to load material onto the roof, remove debris from the roof, and to clean up.

Please move any items stored next to the house out of the path of falling debris or materials. Some items to remove are BBQ grills, potted plants, lawn furniture, and gardening tools.

Please keep children away from the work area.

If exterior plugs are not available, please run an extension cord through a window or door.

Please unlock gates to provide access to all areas of your yard for cleanup.

Please confine pets indoors or away from home.

Please turn off alarms and sprinkler systems.

Trees and Shrubs

If you have low hanging branches over your roof, some trimming may be necessary. We will only cut those limbs which limit our ability to do an efficient job. You may prefer to have the tree or trees trimmed by professionals before we begin our job.

Flashing

When one roof is installed over another roof, new flashings are sometimes needed at the vertical sidewalls. These flashings may be covered by a 1 inch by 4 inch board nailed to the vertical wall.

In order to properly re-flash a skylight, we must remove the frame from the curb. When the skylight is removed, dried paint, texture or sheetrock dust may fall inside. Please cover or remove anything directly underneath all skylights.

Solar Panels

Arrangements to remove and replace solar panels are the sole responsibility of the owner.

Antennas

We remove and re-install antennas up to 20 feet in height, but we will not be responsible for the lead in wire breaking or for reception.

Vents

At the end of each work day and upon completion of your job, please check the interior connections of your heater and hot water heater vent pipes. If you can not do this please notify us of this and we will inspect this for you.

Left Over Materials

Our proposals are based on a complete job. Any left over materials remain the property of AA Roofing, unless otherwise stated in your contract.

Wiring

Electrical, telephone, cable TV, security, computer, and air conditioning lines should not be installed directly underneath the roof deck. Prior to construction, we suggest that you inspect your attic for wiring run over the rafters and between the lath boards and notify us immediately if there is a potential problem. We can not be responsible for the puncture of improperly installed lines or lines within three inches of the roof deck.

Cleanup

Nails that fall from the roof during construction will be picked up with a magnetic roller. We make every effort to remove all nails but a few may remain.
